Spring has sprung, which means it’s time to hit the road for your first big warm weather trip of the year! With plenty of memory-making moments on the horizon, your first step toward all that fun is making sure you properly clean your RV to make sure it’s ready to roll.

First things first – if you haven’t taken your RV in for its regular maintenance check, now is the time. Our service department at Crowder RV will be happy to give your home away from home a thorough once over, so before your adventures begin, be sure to give us a call and schedule your appointment.

And now, here are some RV spring cleaning tips that will help make your first trip of the year much more enjoyable.

  • Stale air is no fun at all, which is why you need to throw open your RVs windows and doors and air out your unit.
  • If you left pillows and cushions inside all winter, take them outside and let them breathe for a while. The fresh air will help eliminate any smell they might have attracted over the last few months.
  • Wash your sheets and blankets, along with any towels you may have left in your RV over the winter.
  • Grab a dust cloth and go over all surfaces, paying particular attention to vents and electronics. If possible, pull the vent covers off and wipe those down as well.
  • Wipe out your drawers and cabinets with a wet washcloth to get rid of any dirt or food crumbs that may have accumulated.
  • Speaking of food, if you left anything behind after your last trip, you’re likely going to want to toss it.
  • Nobody loves washing windows, but before making your first trip of the spring, it has to be on your list of must-dos. Also, remove screens so you can inspect them for holes and tears and clean your blinds (make a glove an old sock to wash between each one).
  • Check your air conditioning filters and other systems to make sure they’re in proper working order.
  • Mop/vacuum your floors.
  • Make sure your appliances are all in working order.
  • Scrub your bathroom and kitchen appliances to get rid of any dirt and dust that might have settled over the winter.
  • Use a long-handled brush to clean the exterior walls. Most oil and dirt will easily wash off with soap and water. For stubborn insect remains, wet the surface and wipe with a damp dryer sheet.
  • If you have a portable pressure washer, use it on awnings, floor mats, grills, covers, etc., to reduce your cleaning time.

These tips will have you on the move in no time in your fresh-smelling, sparkling clean RV. Happy trails as you Set Yourself Free in a Crowder RV!
